The still little-known golden ribbon

Since 2012, September has been marked as Gold September, the international month for childhood cancer awareness. Paediatric oncology remains underfunded, and awareness limited.

Each year, about 400,000 cases are diagnosed worldwide, including 36,000 in Europe and 350 in Switzerland. Despite a high survival rate, a child still dies every week in Switzerland.

Childhood cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death in children under 15 in our country. Some forms still have no cure, highlighting the urgent need for greater research and awareness.
